Xanto arrived at the Rescue Center shortly after IHP was founded. One of our supporters, who later became a member of the board of directors for a time, came to visit and realized that to get us from one paddock to the next, we had no choice but to use a battered van, which was about to give us up for good. She didn't hesitate to contact us, offering to adopt what had been the car of her life, to which she was deeply attached. She wouldn't have sold it for anything in the world, but with a big heart, she decided to give it to us, confident that it would be very well cared for and would provide excellent service for many years to come. And so it was. In fact, in 2016, a fantastic group of Land Rover enthusiasts, led by Davide, took charge of it for a few weeks, turning it inside out and delivering a super off-roader, almost as good as new.

Xanto has been invaluable throughout these years, both inside and outside the Recovery Center. Thanks to him, we've transported everything, including some horses to the clinic on those rare occasions when it was necessary. That's why Xanto, like Balio , is a great friend to horses as well as to us.
Its name comes from Greek mythology: Xanthus was one of Achilles' two horses , immortal and formidable (they also had the gift of speech).

Xanto is a wonderful off-road vehicle that we could never have afforded, so we're grateful to the person who donated it to us and we do our best to keep it in perfect working order. We'd like to share this experience with you by creating a team of special adopters, both for him and Balio: with a minimum donation of €20, you'll be their long-distance carers for a year, allowing us to keep them in tip-top shape and working at their best. Of course, you'll be able to come meet them in person and, unlike horses, you'll even be able to ride them!
